Ministries

I serve with SIM in Potosí, Bolivia. Potosí is a mining community in the Andes Mountains and is one of the highest cities in the world. Over 250,000 people live on the mountain, with another 100,000 living below the mountain in outlying communities.

SIM has been active in Potosí for over 30 years, with a focus on medical missions. The clinic Allinta Ruwana provides medical care and medical education. The Allinta Ruwana facilities are also used for other missions work, including vacation Bible school.

My primary area of focus in Potosí is helping with the local public library. I had the privilege of working in public libraries in the United States for over 15 years, and those experiences can help the library in Potosí as it tries to imagine how it can better encourage literacy and access to information in its local context.

A local Baptist church has a ministry to the Deaf community in Potosí. My Bolivian Sign Language is pretty limited, but I am looking forward to getting better at BSL and finding a place to join in the work the church is doing to share the Good News with the local Deaf population.

I am privileged to partner with the following organizations to serve the people of Potosí:
